Opera’s MiniPay Wallet Integrates With Binance Connect

TBinance Connect’s integration enhances stablecoin access, providing fast and affordable transactions with USDT and USDC across Africa, Latin America, and Asia, according to MiniPay.

Opera’s MiniPay, a self-custodial stablecoin wallet built on Celo, has officially integrated Binance Connect, Binance’s fiat-to-crypto gateway.

According to a press release shared with Cryptonews, this integration facilitates fiat on-ramps, broadens global payment options, and improves accessibility to digital assets.

Opera highlights the difficulty of quickly and securely converting local currency into digital assets as a major barrier to Web3 adoption. The partnership aims to address this challenge by reducing entry barriers.

Additionally, this integration marks MiniPay’s transition from a simple wallet to a versatile financial tool supporting savings, peer-to-peer transfers, cross-border payments, and daily transactions.

Opera, Celo, and Binance collectively seek to boost real-world stablecoin utility. Binance Connect is now live within MiniPay, enabling users to access it via the Opera Mini browser or the standalone Android app, facilitating cash deposits and transactions.

Expanding Accessibility/Payment Methods and 7 Million Wallets

MiniPay reports over 7 million activated wallets across 50 countries, all of which can now be funded through Binance Connect.

Payment methods include credit/debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, P2P trading, and Binance Account Balance.

MiniPay’s ecosystem features Mini Apps supporting various functionalities such as utility bill payments, donations, and music streaming.

Isha Varshney, Celo Foundation’s Head of Ecosystem, stated, “We’re excited to see our partners collaborating to drive adoption on Celo. MiniPay has been a vital onboarding tool, and with Binance’s vast user base and market leadership, more people worldwide can access the benefits of our open on-chain economy.”

Thomas Gregory, Binance’s Vice President of Fiat, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the partnership’s vision for inclusive financial tools at a global scale.

With Binance Connect integrated, users worldwide “can transition from fiat to stablecoins in seconds,” Gregory noted, describing it as the kind of practical Web3 infrastructure needed to onboard the next billion users.

MiniPay, built on the mobile-first blockchain Celo, leverages the chain’s sub-second finality and low transaction fees, featuring a self-custodial design, gas abstraction, and a wallet system linked to phone numbers—streamlining transactions to be as simple as texting.

MiniPay’s Android app is currently available, with an iOS version expected soon, the announcement added.
